Saddle up, partner! This here course aims to provide y’all with a sturdy foundation in the essential workings of LightBurn, a trusty software for guidin’ laser cutters and engravers. Through hands-on wranglin’ and plain-spoken teachin’, participants are fixin’ to ride off with a solid grasp on creatin’, adjustin’, and fine-tunin’ designs for laser cuttin’ and engravin’.

Prerequisites:

Basic computer skills

Materials:

Trusty computer with LightBurn software loaded up (if ya got one)

Laser cutter/engraver (if you’re lucky enough to have one)

Some sample materials for laser cuttin’ and engravin’

Course Outline:

Session 1: Getting Started with LightBurn

Navigatin’ the LightBurn frontier

Importin’ and exportin’ files like a seasoned traveler

Settin’ up a fresh project, ready for the trail

Basic tool functions: selectin’, movin’, and scalin’

Gettin’ familiar with layers and settings, your trusty companions

Drawin’ and tweakin’ simple shapes, like brandin’ cattle

Wranglin’ with basic text and fonts

Session 2: Creatin’ Designs

Importin’ images and usin’ the trace function to find your way

Combinin’ shapes usin’ Boolean operations, like joinin’ a posse

Applyin’ basic fills, strokes, and gradients to make your mark

Usin’ templates for consistency, like layin’ a solid foundation for a homestead

Optimizin’ designs with offsets, arrays, and more, just like plannin’ a cattle drive

Adjustin’ cut settings: power, speed, and frequency, to make sure you’re ridin’ smooth

Previewin’ and simulatin’ cuts to keep things on the straight and narrow

Session 3: Explorin’ Advanced Functions

Usin’ templates for consistency, like layin’ a solid foundation for a homestead

Optimizin’ designs with offsets, arrays, and more, just like plannin’ a cattle drive

Adjustin’ cut settings: power, speed, and frequency, to make sure you’re ridin’ smooth

Previewin’ and simulatin’ cuts to keep things on the straight and narrow

Troubleshootin’ common issues, like fixin’ a busted wagon wheel on the trail

Preparin’ images for engravin’, like etchin’ your brand onto a steer

Adjustin’ parameters for different engravin’ effects, to give your work that special touch

Explorin’ ditherin’ and halftonin’ techniques, for added depth and texture

Achievin’ depth and texture with grayscale images, like bringin’ out the beauty in a prairie sunset

All Lessons must be completed within 8 weeks of starting class
